The Uley Tablets Online

As yet only a very few of the Uley Tablets have been published on the Roman Inscriptions of Britain website. All of them have been published in some form on the British Museum Collections Online website. However, neither the British Museum nor RIB uses the descriptors used by Roger Tomlin in The Uley Tablets  and so they are difficult to find. The following is a table of links to the Uley tablets in the British Museum and in RIB that I have referred to in Imagining Luke-Acts in Roman Britain. It uses the descriptors I have used in the book. The introductions, transcriptions and translations in the BM Collections Online and the transcripts, translations and commentaries in RIB pre-date the final publication of the tablets in The Uley Tablets and must therefore be used with caution. Each entry in RIB is headed with the warning: Nota bene! This inscription record is still under development and its content may change before final publication. Many of the BM tablets have images, and all the RIB tablets have drawings of the original. Tablets marked with an asterisk appear in the Appendix to Imagining Luke-Acts in Roman Britain with the transcripts and trnanslations as they appear in Roger Tomlin, The Uley Tablets (2024).
